"Dub" Rogers
As
our name, "Family Christian Counseling," implies, my
approach to life issues is through a Biblical grid. It's not
that I give chapter and verse for everything said but the scriptures
are foundational.
When
I think of counseling, I often quote Will Rogers. "We are all
ignorant, only on different subjects." Applying that to
counseling, we all have blind spots or excess baggage, just in
different areas at different times. I see my job as a counselor as
coming along side someone, with the aid of the Holy Spirit to help
identify those blind spots and equip the person with the tools to
move from where they are to where they want to be. I wish I had a
"holy zapper" so I could just "fix" someone.
However, it most often takes more time for change to occur. The goal
is for growth and progress.
The
picture above is of my bride of thirty years, Kathy, and our
troopers, Seth, Katie, David and Rachel. I am often told that
I married "way over my head." This is true! - but I
had to give my kids a 50/50 shot. If they didn't get the right
"50," it was the best I could do. I do believe that
they did get the best "50."
I
appreciate the opportunity that I have in counseling to walk a few
miles with people. I commit to give my best input and to
faithfully pray for each person I see and for the time I spend in
the counseling room with them.
